Monsoon rains are continuing in almost all parts of Pakistan and according to the Meteorological Department, this series will continue for the next few days. By taking some precautionary measures in this regard, we can save our lives and the lives of others from major accidents.
On rainy days, give up unnecessary activities and prefer to stay at home and before leaving the house, be aware of the city conditions and weather conditions at every moment through radio and TV.
* - Avoid passing near electricity poles on the side of the road, especially the fallen power lines.
Keep children away from electrical appliances and sockets and do not allow them to stand in the open during thunderstorms.
* - Avoid touching electrical appliances with wet hands and bare feet, especially when ringing the bell and operating the ironing, washing machine and motor pump. - Keep unnecessary electrical appliances off.
If water enters the house, turn off the gas and electricity mains.
Avoid passing near electricity and transformers in rainy and strong winds.
Install the small generator isolated from the service connection and disconnect it from the service wires before opening the generator.
Leaks, drainage systems and gutters in the roof or walls of the house should be checked regularly so that there is no obstruction in drainage in heavy rains.
Lamps, flashlights, matches and candles must be kept in the house.
Before touching the pedestal fan, wet wire or broken wire, make sure that the switch is turned off and fix the broken wire.
Stay away from electricity poles and signboards and even standing water near the poles can sometimes get electrocuted, so avoid it.
Avoid passing or passing vehicles on fallen wires on the electric ground and do not stand near trees and signboards.
In case of emergency, call the rescue agencies for help and write down the numbers of these agencies clearly at home so that time is not wasted in finding the required number.
* - Drive slowly and carefully in the rain because brakes are late on wet roads.
* - Drive in the middle lane in the rain because rainwater flows towards the corners of the road.
* - Avoid driving behind large vehicles, especially trucks and buses, as they spread water while passing and they are likely to fall on the screen of the vehicle, which may cause difficulty in driving.
* - Keep the car's headlights on in the rain and drive by looking at the signs in front of the car.
Avoid going to dangerous places in mountainous areas and be very careful while passing through slippery places and drive very carefully.
People living in low-lying areas, if there is a danger of rainwater entering the house, bring electrical appliances and valuables upstairs.
People who go to the office should carry extra petrol, water, flashlight, matches and first aid box in a plastic bag.
Do not try to cross flood relays, streams and rivers on foot or by any means.
Avoid dumping garbage, especially plastic bags and bottles, in storm drains and sewers.
Avoid living in or near the building under construction and avoid bathing in drains or rivers during or after rain.
Keep the speed of the car and motorcycle low and keep a proper distance from the vehicle ahead.
